A team of astronomers spotted RBFLOAT, one of the brightest fast radio bursts ever seen, and traced it to a galaxy 130 million light-years away. Using CHIME’s new Outrigger array, researchers pinpointed its origin to a spiral arm near a star-forming region, strengthening the case for magnetars as the source of these mysterious blasts.
